How Many Movers Do You Actually Need?

Easy Moving Pros · Orlando, FL

Short answer: most moves need 2 to 4 people. The right number for you comes down to how much stuff you have, whether stairs are involved, and how heavy your furniture is. Here's how to figure out your number before you call us.

The Quick Cheat Sheet

Home SizeCrew We'd SendBallpark Time
Studio / 1BR2 movers2 to 3 hours
2BR apartment or condo2 movers3 to 4 hours
2 to 3BR house3 movers3 to 4 hours
3+BR house3 to 4 movers4 to 6 hours

These are starting points for a well-packed move with no surprises. Add time (or add a mover) if any of the stuff below applies to you.

What Actually Changes the Number

How full your place is. A cluttered 2-bedroom with 8 years of accumulated stuff can take longer than a lightly furnished 3-bedroom. Room count is a guideline, not gospel.

Stairs. Every trip up and down slows the crew, and it adds up fast on multi-flight walk-ups. Tight stairwells sometimes need a 3rd mover just to get big furniture around the corners safely. Tell us about stairs when you book so we send the right size crew.

Heavy or awkward items. A couch and a dresser are a 2-person job. A piano, a gun safe, or a 300+ lb item usually needs 3 to 4 hands, both for speed and so nobody gets hurt.

Distance from your door to the truck. Long carries (down a hallway, across a big parking lot, down a long driveway) eat time the same way stairs do.

Whether you're packed already. This is the big one. If your boxes are taped, labeled, and ready to grab, your crew moves fast. If we're waiting on you to finish packing a closet while the clock runs, that's on your bill. Be packed before we knock.

Why More Movers Can Actually Cost You Less

This trips people up. A bigger crew costs more per hour, but it finishes faster, so the total can land close to the same or even lower. Here's the real math using our rates:

2-man crew, $90/hr, 5-hour job = $450
3-man crew, $135/hr, 3-hour job = $405

Same move, fewer total hours with the extra set of hands, and you're not sitting around your empty apartment until 9pm waiting for the truck to get loaded.

Our Flat-Rate Packages

We built flat-rate packages for the moves we see most often, so you know the number before we show up:

No guessing, no hourly clock stress. Just tell us your bedroom count.

Our Honest Take on the "Full-Service" Question

Full-service movers (the ones who bring their own truck and drive it too) usually cost a lot more, because you're paying for the truck rental built into their rate whether you need it or not. Rent a $30 to $40 U-Haul yourself, hire us for the crew, and you get the same trained loading and unloading with more money in your pocket. That's the whole reason we exist.

Quick Tips to Keep Your Move On Budget

The more ready you are, the faster (and cheaper) your move goes. That's true no matter who you hire, but it's especially true with an hourly crew.

Not sure what you need?

Tell us your bedroom count, whether you've got stairs, and any big or heavy items, and we'll tell you the exact crew size and price before you book.
